Three people arrested protesting Iran’s controversial presidential elections have been condemned to death by an Iranian court. "Three people who were accused (for their role) in the post-election incidents have been sentenced to death," said Zahed Bashiri Rad, a media officer at the Iranian Justice Ministry, according to the ISNA news agency.
During the protests some 4,000 people were arrested, including senior Iranian reformists and journalists. 140 of them have been put on trial, accused of trying to “overthrow” the Iranian regime. Last week the Iranian regime shut down three newspapers for printing articles critical of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
