MK Uri Ariel (Ichud Leumi – National Union) responded Saturday night to the forced eviction of Jews from Homesh the night before, on the Sabbath. “The expulsion in Homesh on the eve of the Sabbath – the fifth in two months – shows that someone in the Central District command has lost his common sense,” he said.
IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi has ordered that Jews not be expelled from outposts on the Sabbath unless such an operation is necessary for reasons of immediate security, Ariel said.
MK Michael Ben-Ari called on hareidi-religious parties Shas and United Torah Judaism (UTJ) to join Ichud Leumi in protesting the desecration of the Sabbath for the sake of evicting Jews from outposts.
