(IsraelNN.com) Former Chief of Staff Dan Halutz of the Israel Defense Forces and former Air Force head Eliezer Shkedi joined the list of candidates to succeed Haim Romano as Director-General of El Al Israel Airlines on Thursday, according to News One. Also named was former Civil Aviation Authority chief Udi Zohar.

Looking to move up within the ranks are deputy director-generals David Maimon in charge of customers, Lior Yavor of special campaigns and Nisim Malachi of financial affairs. Also under consideration are three executives from outside the industry, as was Romano.

A member of the Borovich family, which has controlling interest in the firm, told someone in the organization that the next director-general will come from outside the company.
