Lawyers for former Finance Minister Avraham Hirschson, who was convicted of stealing NIS 1.8 million of union funds from a Likud-affiliated institution, filed an appeal Thursday against his conviction and sentence. According to Hirschson's lawyers, the case was rife with contradictory testimony and evidence, which negatively affected the outcome of the case for their client.
According to the attorneys, much of the money in question was actually earned by Hirschson, and most of his offenses would not justify the harsh sentence he actually received.
