China Begins Brisk Gasoline Business with Iran

Chinese state companies now provide up to one-third of Iran’s gasoline imports, the British Financial Times reported Wednesday. The Chinese gasoline, which began to be supplied at the beginning of September, fills the gap left by the withdrawal of long-standing suppliers who have answered calls for sanctions.

Iran is heavily dependent on foreign gasoline to survive as it has weak oil refinement capabilities of its own. The Chinese deal torpedoes moves by British and Indian companies who have ceased doing business with the Islamic regime which is believed to be close to building a nuclear weapon.  In the past year BP and Reliance of India, agreed to stop selling gasoline to Teheran.
