In spite of claims to the contrary by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, the PA maintains preconditions to talks with Israel. Following the tripartite meeting with US president Barak Obama and PA president Mahmoud Abbas, Netanyahu had said that though all the obstacles had not been removed, it had been agreed that negotiations be resumed without prior preconditions. But according to the PLO news agency Wafa, Abbas said the resumption of PA-Israeli negotiations depends on basing them on recognizing "the need to withdraw to the 1967 borders".
