Silvan Shalom, a member of the security cabinet in Binyamin Netanyahu's government, told heads of the Yesha council Tuesday afternoon that despite the fact that the government supports the renewal of negotiations with the Palestinian Authority, it does not accept the basic premise of the PA and U.S. government, that Jewish building in Judea and Samaria are "an obstacle to peace."

"I predicted that there would be a summit between Netanyahu, US President Barack Obama, and PA chief Mahmoud Abbas, even though everyone predicted it would fall through," Shalom said. "The summit is supposed to lead to a renewal of negotiations, and we support this. The Palestinians must learn that peace needs to be made with Israel, not come in place of Israel," he said.
