    Record Rainfall for Rosh Hashanah

The National Water Authority said Sunday that record rainfalls were recorded over the Rosh HaShanah holiday. Some 40mm fell in the north, 60mm in the Golan Heights and 10mm on Lake Kinneret.

Israel has been experiencing a drought for the past several years and the Kinneret has hit its “black line” below which irreversible damage is done to the pumps in water reservoirs. Water experts say the country needs to have a rainfall of 20% above the annual average if Israel wants to be able to continue to extract water from the Kinneret.
