Anti-missiles systems that have been used on Israeli military airplanes will soon be installed on commercial airlines. The Israel Aerospace Industries has won a contract for its Flight Guard system on approximately 200 airplanes, including several from outside of Israel. Each system costs about $250,000.
Flight Guard contains a jamming system that “immediately deploys decoy flares to steer any threatening heat-seeking missiles away from the aircraft and toward the decoy flares," according to the IAI subsidiary ELTA.
