British labor unions on Thursday agreed to support a boycott, proposed by the Fire Brigades Union, of goods produced in some Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria (Yesha), an end of arms trading with Israel and disinvestment from companies involved in construction of the Judea-Samaria separation barrier.
The boycott call was the unions' reaction to Israel's counter-terror Operation Cast Lead in Gaza last winter and included condemnation of the Hamas terrorism that precipitated the military campaign but no call for action against the terrorist organization. According to the Times of London, Union leaders backed off from calling for a boycott of all Israeli goods after frantic behind-the-scenes negotiations.
