Smugglers marked a new achievement when they boasted of smuggling cars from Egypt to Gaza through an underground passage, the Bethlehem-based Ma’an news agency reports. A tunnel worker said that the cars are disassembled before being transported through the kilometer-long tunnel beneath the Egypt-Gaza border. The worker said that smuggling a car costs from $1,800 to $2,000. The cars are subsequently reassembled and sold. The most popular orders he receives are for Mitsubishi Lancers and Suzukis.
The worker didn’t state how much he receives for smuggling mortar shells and rockets that are fired towards Israeli civilians. Israel restricts imports into Gaza as part of its efforts to prevent Hamas terrorists from stocking up with weaponry.
