A majority of Americans say the US should assist in defending Israel if it is attacked. Israel came in third place amongst world nations after Canada and the UK. According to a Rasmussen Reports Poll carried out between September 3-6th, 59% of Americans believe the U.S. should “provide military assistance” to Israel in the event it is attacked.

The survey asked "Sometimes, when a country is attacked, the U.S. provides military assistance to help defend that country." Those surveyed responded yes to Canada - 78%, Britain - 73%, Israel - 59%, Mexico - 59%, Germany - 53%, Japan - 46%, France - 45%.
