Israel defense officials are reviewing scenarios and preparing for the prospect that Hamas will soon obtain long-range rocket capability, Middle East Newsline reported on Wednesday. Officials said the Israeli military and Defense Ministry assessed that Hamas could acquire Iranian-origin long-range rockets by 2010.
They said that Hamas has sought to acquire parts to assemble variants of such rockets as the Fajr-4 and -5 rockets, with a range of more than 70 kilometers.
