A huge flower carpet composed of 500,000 flowers and covering 1.5 dunam (one-third of an acre) will be on display in Rabin Square from September 15-17, with a special opening night sound and light show Tuesday night. The flower carpet is a tribute from the city of Brussels to Tel Aviv-Jaffa on the occasion of the centennial celebrations.
Brussels Mayor Freddy Thielemans and Belgium Ambassador Benedicte Frankinet will help inaugurate the carpet. The carpet’s design, inspired by tiles and murals found in the homes of several city founders. One hundred volunteers will lay the flowers.
