A plea bargain was reached on Sunday between lawyers for Shai Dromi and State attorney’s whereby Dromi will be required to do five months of community service for carrying arms without a license.

Dromi was arrested a couple of years ago after shooting one of a group of Bedouin thieves who had infiltrated his property during the night. After a new law was passed protecting civilians who defended themselves against infiltrators, Dromi was exonerated from manslaughter charges. Negev farmers and ranchers said the law will help protect them against the rampant theft and extortion to which they are subject.
