Police arrested five protesters in Petach Tikvah on Monday, after several hundred demonstrators blocked roads and streets in the area of the Petach Tikvah municipality. The demonstrators were protesting against the refusal of several schools in the town to register students from Ethiopian immigrant families.Five youths were taken in for questioning after they confronted police, and were released a short time later.

Speaking Monday afternoon, Education Minister Gideon Saar promised that all students in the city would have a seat in a classroom on Tuesday, when school is set to open.
