In addition to demanding that Arab terrorists who are citizens of Israel be released in any deal to free IDF soldier Gilad Shalit, Hamas has also demanded that Israel release terrorists who are citizens of Jordan currently serving sentences for security crimes in Israel. A report in a Jordanian paper Monday said that Hamas chief terrorist Khaled Mashal pledged to demand the release of those terrorists to Jordanian officials.
Earlier, Israel Radio quoted Mashal as saying that Hamas had never agreed that terrorists released as part of a deal who come from Judea and Samaria would not be sent home, but instead be sent to Gaza or abroad, as Israel has claimed. That, along with Hamas' demand that Israeli Arabs and Jerusalem residents serving time for terror crimes be released, has prevented progress on a deal to free Shalit, Mashal said.
