Israel is to hold its largest ever drill against a biological attack. The drill is to take place this coming January. The threat scenario will include a biological attack on a major Israeli city and will include a wide range of security and emergency medical organizations including: IDF Home Front Command, Magen David Adom, Fire and Rescue Services, the Israel Police, the IDF Medical Corps and the IDF Spokesman's Office. Syria is believed to own biological missiles carrying a range of lethal diseases uncluding ebola, anthrax, Q fever and smallpox.

The IDF also plans to begin returning gas masks to the public starting in November. The masks were gathered back in 2006 and refurbished.
