The Washington Post, quoting a senior Iraqi intelligence source, says Iraq will become a colony of Iran if current lax security policies continue. This month, Head of Iraqi Intelligence, Gen. Mohammed Shahwanire, resigned because of what he viewed as Iraqi Prime Minister Nouria al-Maliki's attempts to undermine the U.S.-trained Iraqi National Intelligence Service (INIS) and allow Iranian spies to operate freely inside Iraq.

Since the INIS was formally created five years ago, 290 of its officers have been killed, many by Iranian intelligence operatives.
