Israel Air Force fighter planes attacked Monday night a tunnel used for arms smuggling in southern Gaza. The pilots identified a direct hit on the tunnel. No casualties were reported. The IDF stated that the attack was in response to a shooting incident in which a soldier was lightly wounded near the security barrier by Kibbutz Zikim, north of Gaza.
On Monday, a soldier was lightly wounded near Ashkelon from mortar shell splinters that terrorists from northern Gaza fired. Prior to the incident, IDF troops identified three Arabs approaching the security barrier near Zikim and opened fire. One of the Arabs was mortally wounded and died at the scene. Two other Arabs fled from the scene.
