One of the mistakes of previous foreign ministries was investing tremendous effort in the issue of the Palestinian Authority, said Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman at a special Sunday media event to present the guidelines of Israel’s foreign policy. “There is absolutely no chance of reaching a comprehensive agreement,” he said about the current Middle East peace negotiations. “Remember well what I tell you, even in 16 years from now there will not be a comprehensive agreement with the Palestinians. There is absolutely no possibility of forming a bridge after reading Fatah’s recent declaration.”

“Even if we make a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, it won’t be the end,” Lieberman said. “The Palestinians will demand autonomy over the Galilee, and more impossible requests. There is no need to establish time lines that can’t be fulfilled.”
