The Committee for Appointment of Judges will meet again Friday to try and reach agreement about the identities of new Supreme Court judges. According to News1, Justice Minister Yaakov Neeman is negotiating a deal with committee members to appoint Judge Yosef Elon as the Justice Minister’s pick, Judge Uzi Fogelman as Supreme Court President Dorit Beinisch’s pick, and a religious judge who would satisfy the committee’s religious and nationalist members.
The Justice Minister’s bureau voiced optimism that agreement would be reached even if it took “a fourth or fifth meeting” to achieve this.
