Haganah Weapons Cache Discovered in Jerusalem School

A hiding place discovered under the third floor of former girls' school Beit Halutzot on Jerusalem's Ibn Gvirol street has been found to have served as an arms storage facility for the Haganah, one of the primary pre-state Jewish underground fighting organizations.

The space, accessible through a secret attic door, contained a stack of tin containers that had been opened, stuffed with cardboard and bits of 1948 newspapers, and then resealed.

A Haganah memoir unearthed by the daughter of a former female fighter reveals that arms were transferred to Haganah fighters inside the school via milk churns.
