Israeli Consul in Boston Reprimanded, Apologizes

Nadav Tamir, Israel's consul in Boston, will return to work next week, after he was reprimanded Thursday by Foreign Ministry General Manager Yossi Gal over distribution of a letter he wrote to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, in which he said Israel's confrontation with America over construction in Judea and Samaria was lowering the American public's support for Israel. During a clarification session at the ministry, Gal said distribution of the letter showed faulty judgement, and - in a message intended for all ministry employees - said that messages should only be sent through proper channels.

Tamir expressed regret for the incident and said it had not been his intent for the message to be leaked. He completely accepted the fact that he was representing the government and that it was not his position to criticize it in public.
