A premature baby in his 51st week from northern Israel is infected with the swine flu. The Poriah Hospital in Tiberias stated that the infant, who is suffering from a respiratory illness, is in a stable condition. The infant has been hospitalized since his birth in his 27th week of pregnancy. Poriah Hospital director Dr. Yaakov Farbstein said that the infant contracted the swine flu prior to his intended hospital release. Due to a decline in his condition, tests were conducted, including tests for H1N1 influenza. The test results received Monday night confirmed suspicions that the infant contracted the swine flu.
Over 2,000 Israelis have so far been infected with the swine flu, including 16 who are hospitalized in critical condition.
