Anne Frank’s Diary Added to UN Collection

The Holocaust-era diary of Anne Frank, records of the Ashkenazic Jewish community in Mexico, and the Magna Carta are among 35 documents of exceptional value, which were added to a United Nations register on Friday.

The additions bring the total number of inscriptions since 1997 to 193. The director-general of the U.N. Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Koïchiro Matsuura, announced the inscription of these items on the recommendation of experts during a three-day meeting of the International Advisory Committee (IAC) of UNESCO’s Memory of the World Program which ends July 31 in Barbados.
