Israel's inventory of new apartments in May 2009 fell to 8,341, 6.8 percent less than in April, according to a survey conducted for the Association of Contractors and Builders in Israel. As recent as 2000, the inventory stood at over 19,000.
From January-May 2009, an average of 1,127 apartments per month were sold, an increase over the same period in 2008. At the present rate of apartment sales, said the report, the inventory will last 3.8 months in central Israel and 4.6 months in Haifa.
