Mazuz: No Indictments for Olmert without Hearings

Attorney General Menachem Mazuz said Thursday that hearings will be held before indictments are issued against Ehud Olmert in the "Investment Center" and "Cash Envelopes" cases. Mazuz was responding to a letter from Olmert's attorneys that the former prime minister was waving his right to a pre-indictment hearing in the "Rishon Tours" case.

In the Rishon Tours case, Olmert is accused of double and triple billing on trips he made so as to allow him to include family members on trips made abroad. The Investment Center case involves allegations of improper appointments when he was government minister. In the Cash Envelopes case, American businessman Morris (Moshe) Talansky has testified that he brought Olmert hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash.

Attorney's for Olmert wrote that the indictment on Thursday of a Rishon Tours co-conspirator prejudiced the case against their client.
