Renovations at the Jewish cemetery in Nizhyn, Ukraine have been completed with funding from philanthropist Mouli Cohen. Upgrades of the cemetery’s facilities include electricity at the site, improved access, and the ability to provide services to visitors. "During the winter, it was impossible to stand there for more than a few minutes", says Mendel Weiss, a visitor from New York, "but now we can spend hours at the site at any time of day or any season of the year."

Located in northern Ukraine, Nizhyn was once a major center of Chassidic Judaism. The Jewish cemetery contains the tomb of the Chassidic master, the second Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Dov Ber Schneerson who was buried in 1827.
