Temporary housing eligibility for families that were evacuated from Gaza and northern Samaria in 2005 was extended by the cabinet on Sunday. "Even though four years have passed since the disengagement, over 90 percent of evacuees have yet to move into permanent housing," Director-General of the Prime Minister's Office Eyal Gabai said in a statement.
"The government has a moral obligation to complete the mission. Therefore, the prime minister has instructed me to work towards a systematic solution, as well as providing a response to concrete problems," Gabai stated. "In the context of dealing with the concrete problems, there is - in the decisions submitted for Government approval - provision for extending the eligibility for temporary housing, and budgetary assistance for students in the coming academic year.”
