A TIM/Teleseker survey has demonstrated that Israel gained an additional 250,000 new internet users last year. The number of Israeli Internet users over the age of 13 now tops 4.3 million. A full 77 percent of Jewish households were found to have Internet access at the end of 2008, up from 73 percent in 2007. Among Israeli Jews over the age of 18, 71 percent surf the web. For Israelis over 50 the number dropped to 56 percent, while 90 percent of Israelis aged 13-17 said they were online.
A reported 16 percent of households had just one surfer, 32 percent have two surfers, and 51 percent have three or more. A demographic breakdown showed that 51 percent of Israeli Internet users are men and 49 percent are women. Among people with a higher education 81 percent use the Internet, compared with 71 percent in the general population.
