A diplomatic source in Beirut told the Syrian daily paper Al-Watan that Israel may launch an attack on Lebanon. According to the source, German Foreign Minister Frank Walter Steinmeier warned senior Lebanese officials during a July 7 meeting that Israel could launch a war against Lebanon in an attempt to avoid U.S. and European pressure regarding the peace process.
