Egyptian General Muhammad Ibrahim, who is in charge of negotiations on kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Shalit on behalf of Cairo, was in Ramallah Thursday, along Egyptian intelligence chief Omar Suleiman. The Egyptian delegation is expected to meet with senior Palestinian Authority officials. They may also visit Gaza, in order to meet with Hamas officials, Egyptian media reports said.
On Wednesday, the Egyptians were in Damascus, meeting with Hamas officials there. In a statement Wednesday, Hamas spokesperson Sami Abu-Zuheri said that there had been "no progress" in negotiations to free the kidnapped soldier.
