Customs officials at Ben Gurion Airport came across some unusual – but illegal – contraband on Thursday morning. A woman coming in on a flight from Russia was found to be carrying 150 quail eggs and 20 packages of fresh meat. The woman attempted to pass through the green line without declaring her imports, and she was detained. Investigators said that the items would have been given to an Israeli resident of Hadera, who was to have sold them.

Importation of any agricultural product is illegal, unless it has a license and has been certified as being free from a long list of diseases. Customs officials seized the items and destroyed them.
