The Hizbullah and Hamas terrorist organizations show "no interest in the success of the peace talks,” said German foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier at a joint press conference in Damascus. "In my view, the peace process can only proceed when destructive elements in the region are reined in."
Steinmeier was in Syria for talks with President Bashar al-Assad and Foreign Minister Walid Muallem as part of a Middle East tour to promote the peace process. "Syria has an objective interest in the success of the Middle East peace process and I call on Syria and also my counterpart Mr. Muallem to do its part," the German FM said.
