Police in the district of Tel-Aviv region stopped 985 drivers on Wednesday as part of the department’s safe driving campaign. According to the department's website, officers and volunteers stopped 183 speeding drivers, 106 motorcyclist, 497 pedestrians, 43 drunk drivers, and 13 drivers with expired licenses.

During early morning action, the campaign caught a driver whose blood-alcohol level was three times the legally allowed limit, and a driver who twice ignored his license being suspended. His car was impounded or 90 days. The District of Tel Aviv encompasses 18 local authorities in the centre of the country. It handles Israel's largest and most densely populated metropolis.
