Building Will Be Erected on Top of Second Temple Quarry

Professor Ofer Shion, who took charge of the archaeological dig which uncovered a Second Temple quarry in Jerusalem, said Tuesday that a building will most likely be built on top of the site. “If we didn’t build on archaeological sites in Jerusalem, there would be nowhere to build,” he explained.

Professor Shion explained that the quarry is one of many in Jerusalem that Herod used to build the Second Temple. He described how a precise system of oxen and logs was used to roll the stones from the quarries to the site of the Temple.
