Court Fines State for Moving Gush Katif Graves

A Jerusalem regional court ruled against the State on Monday and awarded NIS 5 million in damages to two sets of parents whose sons’ graves were moved during the 2005 Disengagement from Gush Katif. The court found that the parents had suffered psychological damage and had lost the ability to work as a result of the trauma from the move.

The judge found that the parents right felt that the State abandoned them, did not treat them with enough respect, and did not treat the bodies properly. In an infamous incident during the evacuation of the cemetery, soldiers were filmed laughing.
