Syria: No Partner for Peace in Israel

Syrian President Bashar Assad told German Foreign Minister Frank-Alter Steinmeier Tuesday that there is no partner in Israel for peace. He added that a halt to construction in Judea and Samaria is critical to peace talks with the Jewish state.

On Monday, President Shimon Peres said that Syria could not have the Golan on a silver platter, but would have to break ties with Iran, Hamas, and Hizbullah to have peace with Israel. Syrian’s Foreign Minister mocked Peres on Tuesday and said his country wanted the Golan on a gold platter.
