Member of Knesset Miri Regev (LIkud) said Sunday night that she had received threats from political sources because of her leading the opposition to Value Added Tax on produce. She told activists at a meeting in Or Yehuda that the threats and criticism came after she wrote letters to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz, and spoke against the tax at a faction meeting.
Regev said she was threatened with being removed from the Knesset Finance Committee and not being re-elected. Sources close to the prime minister called the charges amazing, ridiculous and not worthy of a response.
