(IsraelNN.com) Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Treasurer Yuval Steinitz entered a meeting Sunday night with leaders of local governments in an attempt to stop protests on Monday over cuts in funding.

Before the meeting, Chairman Shlomo Bouhbout of the Center for Local Government said the actions will take place as scheduled. He also accused the finance ministry of adopting "divide and conquer tactics - it sends informal messages reminiscent of the Mediterranean open-air market."
