      Yesha Council Requests Meeting

The Yesha (Judea and Samaria) Council has required an urgent meeting with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to discuss Jewish life in Judea and Samaria. Council leaders expressed concern that the government is weakening its stance on continuing to allow construction of homes in Jewish cities in the region.

Council head Danny Dayan wrote to Netanyahu and said he was worried by reports that the government was considering a “temporary” building freeze for Judea and Samaria Jews, or that the government would allow construction only within “settlement blocs.”

Jews in Judea and Samaria are currently living with a complete building freeze, and no planned construction project has been approved for several months, Dayan said. He called on Netanyahu to reverse the situation and allow Jewish communities to grow, a stance he said was in line with the views expressed by voters during the national elections, and with Netanyahu's views as expressed in the past.
