(IsraelNN.com) Thousands of hareidi-religious men took to the streets of Jerusalem on Saturday night to protest the city's decision to open the Karta parking lot on the Sabbath. The lot was opened in an attempt to reduce illegal parking near the Old City. Protestors fear that opening the lot shows approval of Sabbath desecration.

Clashes were reported between protestors and police, and police reported that some protestors shoved officers and threw rocks. Police set up road blocks near the Karta lot, apparently to prevent demonstrators from breaking in.
