A preliminary investigation by the army shows that the 18-year-old Arab woman who was shot at a Jordan Valley checkpoint after aiming a toy gun at soldiers wanted to be wounded or killed.

The army said the woman told investigators that she suffered abuse at the hands of her family and sought to run away. The wounds she suffered at the checkpoint were described as moderate.
