Chairman Benny Katzover of the Samarian Residents' Council told Arutz 7 Friday that the recent easing of security in the Shechem area abandons the residents of central Israel in order to satisfy the United States. He was interviewed following this week's removal of security checks at the Huwara checkpoint for pedestrians and noted that the checkpoint was the leading place for intercepting terrorists and bombs intended for attacks in central Israel. Katzover was not impressed with the army's word that it would return if need be.
He also noted the end of army and intelligence raids in Shechem to arrest terror suspects. Katzover explained that the Palestinian Authority may arrest Hamas members, but will let them go in a few days.
He said that quiet in the area will allow terrorists to re-arm and train for an attack on central Israel.
