Jews of Hevron Seek End to Leftist Provocations Reported: 09:00 AM - Jul/03/09
(IsraelNN.com) The legal department of the Jewish community of Hevron asked the Supreme Court on Friday not to allow the provocative visits of extreme leftist group Shoverim Shetikah (Breaking Silence) to the community to continue. The request is part of an "update announcement" requested by the court to mark the end of a four-month pilot program in which both sides were asked to exercise restraint, following clashes that broke out in the past. In its announcement, the legal department said it has prevented confrontations, even though community residents are subjected to Shover Shetikah slandering and inciting against them, including advocating uprooting them from their homes under the guise of "educational tours". The community is worried that since no physical confrontations have taken place, the visits will be allowed to continue. The community says security officials have failed in meeting the court's demand for equal enforcement of the law, noting that members of Knesset from the National Union were restricted in their movements when they wanted to take a tour of Hevron. The announcement closes with a reminder that summer vacation has started, and the children of the community have only a restricted area where they can be, and should not be the targets of the leftists, as has happened in the past, so that if the visits cannot be ended altogether, they should be suspended during the vacation. ![]() Check out the Chill Zone - Funny, Entertaining Videos © IsraelNN Syndications - This article may not be republished freely.
