The leader of the Movement for the Freedom of Gilad Shalit, Chezi Mesita, stepped down from his position Wednesday. The retired navy brigadier-general spent eight months leading efforts to free the kidnapped soldier.
Mesita said that the last government made a mistake and gave up on a chance to bring Shalit home. Mesita’s place will be taken by Shimshon Leibman, who has been involved in the effort to bring Shalit home since he was kidnapped three years ago.
