Israel’s third gas price hike in six weeks goes into effect at midnight on Tuesday night. The new price of a liter of 95 octane at self-service pumps will be NIS 6.35, or approximately $6.46/US gallon. The increase will also be joined by the 1 percent increase in value added tax.

The price increase is attributed to an increase in oil prices. Since January 1, 2009, gasoline prices have increased a total of 30 percent, including the latest jump.
