Russian Ambassador to Israel Pyotr Stegny was in the Knesset Tuesday and met with Speaker Reuven Rivlin (Likud) in his office. Rivlin told Stegny that Israel is ready to conduct a dialogue with Syrian President Bashar Assad.

He added, however, that “Israel could not allow itself to negotiate with a terror-supporting country that has extensive connections with terror groups.”
