(IsraelNN.com) A Hamas plot to harm senior officials from the rival Palestinian Authority was thwarted. The secretary general of the Palestinian Authority, Tayeb Abdelrahim, stated at a press conference Monday that Hamas was planning to harm senior PA officials. Hamas terror suspects arrested by the PA told investigators that they were appointed by Hamas representatives abroad and by the Gaza-based Hamas military wing, the al-Kassam Brigades, to conduct terror operations against PA officials and PA institutions in Gaza.

"They admitted that their leaders asked them to commit those attempts on July 7, date of the signing of the reconciliation accord we are determined to reach. We are now convinced (Hamas) doesn't want to reach an accord in Cairo," Abdelrahim said.
